Shackleton Lecture | The Man Who Rowed Around the World

16th October, we invited Erden to Dehong to share his adventurous stories with our students.

When he displayed a picture of a sea turtle, it wowed students. However, he told the students when he encountered this sea turtle, he saw a plastic bag twined on one of its legs, which hindered it from predation. " Our system is filled with plastics. It's a big problem", he added. Erden emphasized the importance of arousing students' sensitivity of environmental protection and sustainability

At the end of his speech, he said that one has to set such big goals that it should define his life mission and serve as a compass. And with big goals, significant achievements happen naturally along the way.
