
Mr Matthew Coleman
Head of Elementary School, Dehong Shanghai
Mr. Coleman brings nearly 20 years of international education leadership experience, having held senior positions in schools across the UK, the Middle East, and China. He has successfully guided teams to deliver high-quality teaching, learning support, and pastoral care. He has also served as Principal and Vice Principal of large international schools, where he introduced key assessment systems and oversaw child safeguarding and protection.
With a strong commitment to student-centered education, Mr. Coleman’s expertise spans curriculum development, student wellbeing, and whole-school improvement. He holds the UK National Professional Qualification for Headship (NPQH), is a PENTA Level 1 inspector for international English language education and assessment, and a certified NPQ facilitator. His focus on student wellbeing and safeguarding is further reflected in his decade-long role as a Designated Safeguarding Lead and his completion of the COBIS Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Leadership Programme.
As the Head of Elementary School, Mr. Coleman brings extensive leadership experience and innovative ideas to Dehong Elementary School. He works closely with the leadership and teaching teams to enhance curriculum and pedagogy while fostering a caring and inclusive school environment that ensures every student receives comprehensive academic and personal support.
