Begin a New Semester with a Guo Xue Show

The beginning of each new year and new semester is always exciting and full of promise for the future. Last week, our Dehong students began their new semester with a special Guo Xue show.

Grade 1 students warmed up the stage with a Kung Fu show and Sheng Lv Qi Meng which are the sound meters in Chinese poetry.

In Chinese astrology, each year is related to a Chinese zodiac animal according to the 12 year cycle. 2018 is the year of the Dog. Do you know the myths behind the Chinese zodiac and the related Earthly Branch symbols? Grade 2 students gave us the answer.

Last semester, students learnt the history and the colors used in the Peking Opera Masks. Thus, the Grade 3 students showed their original works.

Middle school students shared their Guo Xue trip to Nanshufang, and gave students a solo performance of the guqin. While Grade 5 students presented three Classical Chinese dance performances.

At Dehong, the Guo Xue curriculum is highly valued. We help students form a profound understanding and a love for traditional Chinese culture by training students' learning ability in skills, cognition and critical thinking of Guo Xue.
